New travel show “Wonderful Pinas” premiered on October 13 on UNTV at 9 a.m., hosted by retired General Rhodel Sermonia (GenRos) and actor-director Albert Martinez. This isn’t just another travel show showcasing beautiful locations, delicious food, and Filipino hospitality. “Wonderful Pinas” goes a step further, guaranteeing the safety and security of destinations across the country, particularly those in Visayas and Mindanao, like Sulu, Jolo, and Basilan, which often carry a stigma or notion of danger.

“That’s really what we want to show and share with everyone. Safety and security, which we should experience first in our own country,” says GenRos, a longtime friend of director Albert.

The talented actor adds, “For me, I will guarantee that it’s budget-friendly. With so many places in the country still to explore, vacations or trips shouldn’t have to be expensive or luxurious.”

More Than Just Scenery
“Wonderful Pinas” is a promotional show that highlights the many wonders of the Philippines. It delves into the richness of the country’s natural beauty, history, culture, people, and cuisine. The show uncovers hidden gems for adventurous travelers, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the Philippines’ enchanting nature without concerns about safety or budget.
“We’re opening up possibilities. I guess partner travel agencies will soon follow, seeing that these places are viable destinations. We’ve actually talked to the LGUs about turning the places we’ve discovered into tourist destinations. The LGU officials have been very cooperative in making these places safe for both local and foreign tourists,” Albert Martinez shared in English and Filipino.
He continued, “Here’s the secret to finding these places: with the help of Gen Ros, we first talk to the local chief of police. They know the whole area, including the hidden, less-traveled, but stunning spots. They give us tips on locations, and of course, ensure the area is secured. When we visit, we find they’re right, the place is incredibly beautiful, and yet it’s not on the list of tourist destinations.”
A Collaborative Effort
The show is founded and hosted by retired General Rhodel O. Sermonia (GenROS) who, after 39 years of outstanding service, continues to encourage Filipinos to get involved in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, wonderful places, culture, and people. He is joined by seasoned celebrity actor/director Albert Martinez, a staunch environment advocate and founder and president of KALIGKASAN (Kaligtasan at Kalikasan).
The show is also co-hosted by actor/host/director/producer Alvin Anson, volleyball star and beauty queen Michele Gumabao, and actor/public servant Dennis (Coronel) Macalintal.
