The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines has officially announced the commencement of the search for the 2025 TOFIL (The Outstanding Filipino) Awards—an esteemed recognition dedicated to honoring outstanding Filipinos aged 41 and above whose integrity, dedication, and service have significantly contributed to national development. In partnership with the Ropali Group of Companies, JCI spearheads a program that has, since 1988, spotlighted individuals whose efforts continue to shape the fabric of Filipino society.

A Tradition of Excellence and Service
The TOFIL Awards have consistently celebrated pioneers across various sectors—including government, business, education, and social development. Organizers described the awards as “one of the most esteemed honors for Filipino individuals who have dedicated themselves to uplifting their profession, advancing public welfare, and contributing to nation-building.” Past recipients serve as exemplars of Filipino resilience and commitment, with their achievements echoing their profound influence on the community.

Criteria and Categories for Nomination
To be considered, nominees must meet specific criteria. They should be Filipino citizens—whether natural-born, naturalized, or dual citizens—demonstrating “a strong moral character, proven leadership, and a commitment to service.” Nominees are required to be at least 41 years old at the time of nomination and have impacted their field or the broader community in a meaningful way.
Candidates may come from the following sectors:
- Government
- Private Sector
- Academic Community
- Non-Government and Civil Society Organizations
- Previous TOYM Honorees
Organizers also highlighted that “JCI Senators and previous TOYM recipients may also be considered under their designated categories,” emphasizing the broad scope of potential nominees.
Submission Requirements and Deadlines
Nomination packets must include:
- Completed nomination form
- Birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (within six months)
- Police and National Bureau of Investigation clearances
- Two formal portraits (size 5R)
- A two-page executive summary
- A comprehensive portfolio of achievements and service (up to 50 pages)

Nominations should be submitted in both hard and soft copies. The hard copies are to be delivered directly to the JCI Senate Philippines Office at 14 Don A. Roces Ave., Quezon City, while digital submissions are to be emailed to awards@tofil.org with the subject line: “2025 TOFIL Nomination_[Name].” The deadline for receipt of nominations is August 23, 2025, with acknowledgment sent by August 31, 2025.
The Selection Process and Symbolism
The awards follow a thorough selection process grounded in the ideals of the JCI Creed, emphasizing service to humanity, integrity, and meaningful contributions to national progress. Only nominations with complete documentation will be considered. The selection committee carefully evaluates each nomination, ensuring that awardees exemplify genuine dedication and moral character.

The trophy awarded to recipients was designed by National Artist Napoleon V. Abueva—himself a 1959 TOYM Honoree and former Dean of the UP College of Fine Arts. Standing 27 inches tall, the trophy carved from solid narra wood symbolizes the multifaceted nature of human endeavor with its irregular polygonal shape, narrowing summit representing achievement, and broad base signifying strength.
