Singer-songwriter Janine Berdin is preparing to release her highly anticipated debut album, “Lab Songs Ng Mga Tanga,” on September 26, 2025.
The album provides a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the realities of love, heartbreak, and healing, capturing the emotions of being, in her words, “stupidly in love.”
Prior to the album’s launch, Berdin revealed the single “Hayup Ka,” a powerful anthem addressing gaslighting, manipulation, and the courage required to leave a toxic relationship. With its daring lyrics and sincere delivery, the track sets the tone for the themes that will be explored throughout the full record.
Reflecting on the creative process, Berdin shares that songwriting felt most natural to her. “I really write quick because it’s just like words in my head when I’m feeling the thing — it’s like word vomit,” she explains. “The hardest part was bringing it to life and making sure the music that comes with the message fits perfectly.”
She also conveys her gratitude to her loyal supporters, “I would really like to thank you na sinasakyan niyo lahat ng trip ko. This is my first album after being in the industry for seven years. This album is yours. My music is yours. It’s ours.”
Staying true to her frank personality, Berdin even shares a humorous TMI about the project, “I wrote a lot of songs from this record while I’m in the toilet. That’s just TMI— but it’s true,” she says with a laugh.
Recently, Berdin was also recognized as part of Spotify’s EQUAL Philippines program, which spotlights women artists shaping the future of music. This achievement highlights her growing influence and the excitement surrounding her debut full-length project.
With its honesty, edge, and relatability, “Lab Songs Ng Mga Tanga” is set to mark a new chapter for Berdin, making her one of OPM’s most fearless and distinctive voices.
