Nora Aunor, widely celebrated as the Philippines’ National Artist and a true National Treasure, has touched countless lives through her legendary career. Her influence extends beyond film and music—she is a symbol of artistry, resilience, and Filipino pride. The stories of her devoted fans, their admiration, and the deep connections they build with her legacy deserve to be celebrated and brought into the spotlight, especially in the context of a world after her passing.

Creating a film that explores these themes after the passing of such an icon adds a profound layer of meaning and reverence. It becomes a tribute not only to her artistry but also to the community built around her enduring stardom.
With this heartfelt intent, Faney, a film written and directed by Adolfo Alix Jr., had a special screening at Gateway Cinema on Wednesday. The event was a gathering of hundreds of passionate Nora Aunor fans, her family, and filmmakers who worked tirelessly to bring this project to life within a tight two-week production schedule.

The story of Faney delves into the complex emotional landscape of fandom across generations through the lens of Aunor’s passing. It captures how her legion of fans, regardless of age, relate to their idol and how that relationship shapes their identities. It’s an intimate look at devotion, memory, and the ripple effects that a beloved star leaves behind.

Produced by Frontrow International, Intele Builders, Noble Wolf, and AQ Films, the film follows Milagros, a dedicated fan devastated by the news of Aunor’s death. Her grief uncovers a tapestry of cherished memories and unspoken pain tied to her icon.
Milagros’ daughter, Babette, who is recovering from an angioplasty, worries about her mother’s health and forbids her from attending the public viewing. Yet, Milagros plans to secretly slip away with her granddaughter Beatrice, a youth captivated by modern K-pop and P-pop idols.

As the narrative unfolds, it contrasts Milagros’ nostalgic memories of “Noramania”—Aunor’s era of fame—with Beatrice’s obsession with today’s pop idols, illustrating how fandom connects people across time despite their differences. When they arrive at the memorial, it’s already closed, but their journey continues through heartfelt moments, exploring themes of family, remembrance, and the enduring influence of heroes on personal identity.

The cast includes Laurice Guillen as Milagros, Gina Alajar as Babette, and Althea Ablan as Beatrice—each bringing depth to this exploration of love and loss. Supporting roles feature Bembol Roco, Perla Bautista, Roderick Paulate, Angeli Bayani, Bianca Tan, and members of the P-pop group Bilib, with Ian De Leon appearing as himself.
Following the successful screening, the filmmakers are now preparing for a wider theatrical release, eager to share this tribute to Nora Aunor’s legacy and to highlight the powerful stories of her fans.
