The Supreme Court of the Philippines or SC overturned the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to cancel Grace Poe‘s certificate of candidacy for president. Poe is now back in the game as a qualified presidential candidate for the May 9 elections.
Today, news reports say nine out of 15 justices voted in favor of Poe. The list includes Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Presbitero Velasco Jr., Lucas Bersamin, Diosdado Peralta, Jose Perez, Jose Mendoza, Marvic Leonen, Francis Jardeleza, and Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.
The six justices who voted against Poe are Antonio Carpio, Teresita Leonardo-de Castro, Arturo Brion, Estela Perlas-Bernabe, Mariano del Castillo, and Bienvenido Reyes.
Grace Poe is reportedly on top of recent presidential survey rankings.
