It’s Showtime host and “Unkabogable Star” Vice Ganda recently brought up the topic of pronouns during a segment of It’s Showtime, expressing his comfort with being addressed as “sir.” The recent comments about pronouns garnered attention after Vice was called “sir” by a contestant on It’s Showtime, prompting him to openly address his feelings about the address. He clarified that there is no issue for him with this form of address and even called for it to be normalized.

“Actually, once and for all, let’s normalize me being called sir,” Vice declared, emphasizing that such a title should not be a source of amusement or joke. “Kasi, okay lang naman sakin ang sir. Normal lang ‘yun, it’s okay to be a sir.” The comedian also pointed out his openness to being called “ma’am,” adding, “Pwede rin akong ma’am, ha? Okay din ako sa ma’am. Okay din ako sa sir, okay din naman ako sa ma’am.”

His statement highlights a positive attitude towards respect and his own identity, regardless of whether he is addressed as “sir” or “ma’am.” This stance reflects Vice’s consistent friendliness and humor while reinforcing personal boundaries and respect.

This is not the first time Vice Ganda has expressed comfort with both masculine and feminine pronouns. According to ABS-CBN News’ throwback, in a July 2021 episode of his noontime show, he openly discussed his gender identity, describing himself as non-binary and emphasizing his openness to different forms of address.
“Ako, kahit ano. ‘Pag tinawag mo akong ‘ma’am,’ hindi ako mao-offend. Pag tinawag mo akong ‘sir,’ hindi rin ako mao-offend. Hindi ko niri-recognize ang sarili ko… Either. Non-binary ang gender ko,” he shared, highlighting his personal gender perspective and fluidity.
Vice Ganda’s honest conversations about gender and pronouns continue to inspire discussions on inclusivity and respect within Filipino entertainment.
