Vice Ganda has long been a source of joy and inspiration on It’s Showtime, known for his wit, humor, and uplifting spirit that always brighten the studio. As the show’s jokester, he has entertained millions with his funny quips and personality. However, the May 31 episode last Saturday revealed a different, more vulnerable side of Vice, showing that beneath the laughter lies a depth of emotion and sincerity.

On that particular episode, the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment had an emotional moment when contestant Aaron Lao opened up about his recent breakup. Loud and clear, Aaron expressed his hopes to reconcile, sharing that he still feels attached to his former partner. His story resonated with Vice, whose own recent experiences prompted a reflection on the nature of happiness and love.

“‘Yung message ng kanta, these beautiful things, please don’t take them away. Parang hiling niya,” Vice’s co-host Darren Espanto analyzed the contestant’s song. His voice trembling slightly, Vice shared his emotions. “Ang hirap niyan. Kasi may pinanood akong pelikula kahapon. Advance screening. ‘Yung pelikula ni Ma’am Charo [Santos] atsaka ni Dingdong [Dantes].Umiyak ako after. Naiyak ako kasi ‘yung thought na bakit ‘yung mga bagay na ang gaganda, ang bilis matapos,” he said, illustrating how fleeting moments of happiness can be. He continued, “Pero ‘yung mga pangit, madilim, ‘yung mga masasakit, parang ang tagal niyang matapos.” These reflections highlighted the bittersweet reality that life’s beautiful experiences often seem to pass too quickly, while painful moments linger longer.

Turning his attention back to Aaron, Vice offered words of encouragement and empathy. “Sana hindi ka mahirapan,” he told the contestant, recognizing his hope for reconciliation. “Kasi masarap sa pakiramdam talaga yung may kasama ka. Kaya ang sakit sa pakiramdam na wala na yung gusto mong kasama.” His emphasis on companionship resonated deeply, as he added, “Hindi, ‘di ba? Ang sarap ng may kasama.”

The emotional conversation then shifted to Vice’s personal life. He candidly shared a recent moment with his husband and co-host Ion Perez. “Kahapon, sabi ni Ma’am Charo, ‘Ba’t ka umalis agad?’ Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Ma’am Charo, sorry, hindi na kita nabeso. Kasi after the movie, gusto ko nang umuwi, gusto ko nang makita si Ion agad,’” he recounted, his voice thick with emotion. Tears welled up as he admitted, “I felt so blessed, and at the same time, natakot ako. Kasi tomorrow is never promised.”

Vice, visibly emotional, whispered to Ion who went near him, “Gusto na kitang makita agad kahapon. Sabi ko, ‘Uwi na ako, gusto ko na siyang makita agad.’ Kasi hindi ko nga alam, diba? Parang minsan yung magaganda bait binabawi agad? Para akong tanga, ‘di ba?” His voice cracked as he expressed the urgency of seizing loved ones while they are still near. Then, with heartfelt sincerity, he told Ion, “Hindi, wala, ‘yun lang. I love you!”

Vice Ganda told the contestant the importance of love and second chances and he encouraged Aaron. “I feel the pain. Mahirap iyan. Ang galing mo nga yan, tapang-tapang mo. Di ba, niningitian niya pa ako. Hindi lahat magaling magdala. Hindi lahat matapang matigas. Galing-galing mo, kaya sana magkita kayo ulit. Sana makita niya yung ganda ng pagkatao mo, at sana magtuloy-tuloy yung kagandahan nung naramdaman niya dati. Because everybody deserves to love again,” he said.

Vice passionately concluded with a message of hope, “Because life’s goal and life’s essence is about experience. Without experience, there is no life. So I want you to experience that love and the beauty of that feeling again.” In a moment of lighthearted humor amidst emotional intensity, he added, “Para akong tanga. Sorry, I think it’s the hormones. Hormones?” and chuckled in true Vice Ganda fashion.
This episode of It’s Showtime effortlessly showed the power of raw honesty, reminding viewers that beneath the bright lights and comedy, there’s a shared human experience filled with love, hope, loss, and resilience.
